Engagement Photos

So, we're meeting with our photographer today to do engagement photos. I'm pretty pumped about them. We are doing a few different changes of clothing, and Rob just can't wrap his head around why we are changing shirts. "It's still us, just a different shirt". :) I told him it will help people see all of our diversity and personalities. (Even though 2of the 3 shirts I'm wearing are black, hahaha. But it's all about the shoes people, just check out the shoes when you see the pics. I have 2 AWESOME pairs that I'm totally pumped about. Oh man, I am such a girl. I care more about my shoes in the pics then me). :)

Well, stay tuned. When I have some pics to show I will post them. Until then, check out Maria's blog. She is AMAZING!!!!!! I'm so excited.

And here he is.....

So, I would like you all to meet my fiance', Rob Miller. I know, I know, I kept him a secret for a very long time. Besides my family and a few close friends, hardly anyone knew we were even dating. We met through our singles ward earlier this year and started dating in June. We actually met through FHE, which my Bishop credits himself with cuz he extended the calling to me in March. Way to go Bishop. :)

So, here's the details. He is from California, 29 years old, served a mission in Jacksonville, Florida, divorced with a darling 3 year old daughter. He works for Overhead Garage doors as their Service Manager. So, if you need any garage door help you know who to contact. :) Can't help but advertise for him. (hehehe)

We love to fish up in Pine Valley (or anywhere we can ditch the heat in SG), so on Aug. 27th he took me up to Pine Valley to measure a garage door for a job and to do a little fishing. On our way up he told me he wanted to marry me right now, so instead we decided we'd choose a date that would be a little more sutible for all of our family and friends to attend. :) Honestly, we randomly chose Dec. 5th and went on with our night. He kept teasing me about the date while we were fishing, but as we got closer back to town he took me to my parents house to go "talk" with them. I started to have a little inkling of an idea that he was going to propose in the near future. I just had NO clue it was going to play out exactly the way it did all that night. :) We were with my parents for a couple of hours talking, crying, and laughing. It was such a nice visit and my parents gave us a lot of great advice on marriage, etc. We left and Rob took me to the lot I had purchased in Ivins earlier this year. (the following pics are from the next morning, cuz this all happened around midnight) :)

We pulled up to the lot and he said, "Wait here just a minute". He was out lighting all the candles in a big circle. Unfortunately, there was a wind that night and they kept blowing out. He got me out of the car and was totally frustrated with the wind, I was trying not to laugh cuz it was pretty funny. He would get one lit and go to the next and the first one would blow out. Finally he said, "Oh, forget this. Pretend like all these candles are lit". He had them in a big ring and knelt in the middle. (We have this inside joke with Johnny Cash, Walk the Line, and the Burning Ring of Fire). He said, "This is my burning ring of fire". I started laughing, but it was so cute. He took my hand and asked me to marry him and put the ring on my finger. Apparently I didn't answer quickly enough cuz he started to take it off. When I asked him why he was taking the ring off he said, "cuz you haven't answered me yet". So, I repeatedly said yes, and he put the gorgeous ring back on. :) Then he stood up and hugged me and told me he had been thinking about where he wanted to propose for a while now. He said the lot was the place because that is where our future is. That is where our home is going to be, our kids will grow up, and where we'll grow old together. I thought it was so sweet and well thought out. We talked and hugged and kissed for a while at the lot, then we had to leave to go tell my parents. I was too excited. Actually, it all felt so surreal. I seriously just kept waiting for it to not be real or something. We caught my parents just getting ready for bed, and I think surprised them pretty good as well. I don't think they were thinking it was going to happen as quickly, either. :) And of course I called MinDee (cuz her lights were on when he proposed so I knew she was still awake). She didn't believe us at all, so we had to go up by her house to show her the ring also. The next morning was lots of phone calls to family and friends.

What a crazy weekend that was spreading all the news. So there it is, I am ENGAGED!!! We are planning Dec. 5th, 2009. Keep it on your calendars, and PLEASE leave your address in the comments section so I can get an announcement to you!! :)

I love Rob and can't wait to spend our lives together. He is a good man. He is funny and always keeps me laughing. He has such a great spirit and a desire to do good. He is so loving and always makes me feel special and loved. I am so blessed to have him in my life. I can't wait for all the adventures we have a head of us!!

Lagging behind

I can't believe it's really been almost 2 months since I posted. Not like the success of humanity hinges on my blog posts, but still, 2 months? Holy crap, I suck at life sometimes. Life has been GREAT though. Family reunions have been attended, Road Trips have been travelled, and good times have been had by all.

The end of June I headed to SLC for the Hansen Family Reunion. It was tons of fun, and nice to spend the weekend with my Dad's family. We really have a good time together. And, we were able to have a little surprise B-day party for Taran. Thanks for the cute cake, and planning, MinDee.

The 4th of July was spent up at the Ence Reunion in Pinto. I LOVE that place. I look forward to that reunion every year, and was not disappointed this year. The theme was Ironman 2009 and we had SO much fun. Even though my team didn't place 1st, the Root Beer chug was memorable, and I think I seriously burped for 2 days following. Grandma & Grandpa always make the best Root Beer. :)

I went on a road trip to California (Los Angeles and San Francisco) with 2 of my close friends, Corinne & Dallin. Dallin is moving to Georgia for school so we wanted to do something fun before he left. We went to an Angels/Yankees game at the A's stadium, my first MLB game. It was AWESOME!!!!! We seriously had so much fun, and the families we sat around were so entertaining. We drove up the coast to San Francisco, enjoyed time at Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, Lombard Street, and church at the Berkley Singles Ward. Then we had the privilege of having our car window busted out and our GPS unit stolen. However, the ipod right below the GPS (worth twice as much) was still in tact and good to go. Stupid robbers!! So, after a clean up job on the Jeep and an amazing cardboard window constructed by Dallin & Corinne we were on our way home. 12 hours later, we pulled into St. George, all grateful for the memories, laughter, and the ability to stand up for long periods of time. :)

I received quite a fun phone call while on my road trip from my little bro, Tyler. He and his wife & family surprised us all with a trip to Utah. He had a break in school and they thought they'd come out and spend some time with both of their families. Lucky for us, they made it just in time for the Randy Hansen Reunion, held in Duck Creek, UT this year. MinDee & Nate's family were in charge, and they planned a super fun weekend. We all got up there on Friday and had dinner, played games, and sat around the fire. Saturday we had a lot of fun activities throughout the day: bike rides, 4-wheeling, paint ball, crafts, games, and a little nap time during the rain storm. That night we had an AMAZING dutchoven dinner, and sat around the fire sharing fun Hansen Family memories. Good times, and tons of laughs. Sunday we all got up and attended church in Panguitch Lake, then came back and had brunch and spent the afternoon sitting around visiting again. It was such a fun and relaxing weekend. I just love my family and love spending time with them. They truly are the biggest treasure in my life.

So, it's already August and I'm wondering how in the world this summer went so quickly. It's been a blast though, and I sure have no complaints. I will have to update with some pics when I get a second, but until then, just enjoy this novel of a post. :)
